SCARECROW SHOW-OFF

Want to help decorate Downtown Momence while unleashing your creativity at the same time? Entries are currently being sought for Main Street Momence's very first "Scarecrow Show-Off" scarecrow decorating contest! Individual and business entries will compete in four categories - Funniest, Scariest, Thinking Outside the Box, and Traditional. Cash prizes of $25 will be awarded in each category. 

Main Street is providing the wooden scarecrow frames, which can be picked up at the MSM office (103 N. Dixie Hwy.) beginning Monday, September 19. Judging will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 8 at the Momence Historic House Museum, 117 N. Dixie Hwy. Contestants need not be present to win.

RULES:

* Scarecrows may be constructed of any non-hazardous material intended for outdoor use.

* All material must be securely attached to the wooden frame provided by MSM.

*No scarecrow may depict a real person, and no printed photographs are permitted. All scarecrows must be in good taste.

*Entry forms and wooden scarecrow frames may be picked up at the MSM office, 103 N. Dixie Hwy. during regular business hours. Please phone first 815.472.3861. Forms and complete scarecrows must be submitted by noon on October 8 at the Historic House Museum, 117 N. Dixie Hwy, or at the MSM office in advance of judging.

* Judging will begin held at 1 p.m. on October 8. Decisions by the judges panel are final.

* Scarecrows will be on display throughout the month of October, including Bordertown Hauntings October 29. Items contestants use to decorate the scarecrows will be returned; MSM retains only wooden frames. For more information, contact Fran, 815-472-4661 or the MSM office, 815-472-3861.
